Traveling with Peptides: TSA, Temperature, and What to Pack

Flying with a peptide protocol is legal. TSA allows injectable medications, including peptides, on flights. Here's how to do it without issues.

TSA Rules

Liquid medications are exempt from the 3-1-1 rule. Your vials, BAC water, and isopropyl alcohol do not need to fit in a quart-size bag if they are declared as medications at the checkpoint.

Keep them in a separate bag or case and tell the officer before the bin goes through the scanner. You may get a secondary screening. That's normal and routine.

A prescription or doctor's note is not legally required by TSA, but having one is smart for international travel or if you're carrying a larger quantity.

Checked vs. Carry-On

Carry-on. Always. The cargo hold gets cold — sometimes too cold. Freezing can degrade peptides. More importantly, checked bags get lost. Your protocol does not survive a lost bag.

Temperature During Travel

Most airports and planes are climate controlled. A carry-on in the cabin stays at a reasonable temperature for a domestic flight. For anything over 4-5 hours, an insulated pouch or small soft cooler with a gel pack is worth the effort.

Do not use dry ice in a carry-on — it's restricted. Gel packs are fine.

International Travel

Rules vary by country. The US has no issue with peptides for personal use. Other countries may. Research the specific country before you go. Some peptides are controlled substances in certain jurisdictions regardless of your intended use.

What to Pack

Your vials — upright, in a case that won't let them tip. Pre-drawn syringes with caps on, or capped empty syringes and a vial for drawing on arrival. A 1oz bottle of isopropyl alcohol and cotton rounds. A sharps container for used needles. Your reconstitution calculator — or the Protocol App on your phone, which does the math for you.

The Case Question

A tackle box doesn't pass the overhead bin test. Vials tip, syringes roll, and the latch on a cheaply made case opens under pressure.

Rx Cases were built specifically for this — inversion-proof design, snap-lock latch, dedicated slots for every component. Load it at home, close it, and it arrives at your destination exactly as you packed it.

Carry your protocol like you mean it.
